Stock of 40 medicine will last for three weeks

COLOMBO (News 1st); The State Ministry of Pharmaceutical Products, Supply and Regulation noted that stocks of 40 types of medicines will be sufficient in Government Hospitals for another three weeks.

The Secretary to the State Ministry of Pharmaceutical Products, Supply and Regulation, Dr. Saman Ratnayake stated that arrangements have been made to import all these medicines to the island as soon as possible.

He further said that two types of medicines are NOT available in Government Hospitals at present.

He further said that letters of credit have been issued to facilate the imports adding that there this is a delay of the suppliers.

News 1st inquired from the Secretary whether there is a shortage of drugs given to cancer patients.‍

Dr. Saman Ratnayake said that there is a specialist for each cancer patient, and the medicine which is provided to the relevant patients is imported from overseas.
