Fishermen badly affected by fuel hike

COLOMBO (News 1st); Fishermen allege that they too have been severely affected by the increase in fuel prices.

The Secretary to the Matara District Fishermen's Association Limited stated that they have a huge problem with the current increase in fuel prices in the country because this problem is causing great injustice to fishermen.

He said that with this current economic crisis and high cost of living, other retail prices are rise up, including Ice Cubes.

He said that because of the current increases of every item the Fisherman can not sell the fish for a good price.

He further stated that if this situation NOT going to end as soon as possible, their Association is ready to stage a protest.
