Sri Lanka to pay USD 52 Mn for Diesel Ship

COLOMBO (News 1st); Due to the increase of crude oil in the Global Market, Sri Lanka is now compelled to pay USD 52 Million for a Diesel shipment that reached Sri Lankan shores.

Sri Lanka was orginally supposed to pay USD 36 Million for the shipment of 38,000 MT Diesel.

The Secretary to the Ministry of Energy K.D.R Olga said that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) was making arrangements to obtain the required amount of dollars.

The Ministry of Energy said the necessary measures will be made to unload the Diesel shipment in Colombo, on Friday (11).

In the meantime, furnace oil from another ship is being unloaded in Colombo, she said while adding that the ship is also carrying a shipment of 30,000 MT of Diesel.
