COLOMBO (News 1st); Counsel for Former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake told the Supreme Court that his client is prepared to unconditionally apologize to the court over the second Contempt of Court case filed against him.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday (9) granted permission to present facts on the 25th of March, on the matter.

However, the court denied permission for Ranjan Ramanayake to attend the launch of a movie he starred in on the 24th of March.

The Supreme Court said that it had no judicial power to entertain such a request made by a prisoner who is incarcerated, and the Prison Rules and Regulations that apply fo any prisoner, applies to Ramanayake as well.

The matter was called up in the presence of Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Justice S. Thurairaja, and Justice Yasantha Kodagoda.
