Gas shipments reach Sri Lanka, however, shortage takes its toll

COLOMBO (News 1st); The unloading of gas from one of the three gas ships anchored in the seas off Hendala commenced on Tuesday (8) morning at a time when there is a shortage of gas islandwide.

Accordingly, the gas will be transported from the Thaldiyawatta Buoy to the Kerawalapitiya Litro gas Company.

However, gas outlets in many parts of the country were closed on Tuesday (8).

Currently, a large number of bakeries & restaurants are closed due to the shortage of gas.

News 1st Correspondents stated that Restaurants owners in Awissawella are facing severe difficulties due to the gas crisis.

Meanwhile, several counters selling food at the Baddegama Pradeshiya Saba Restaurant in Baddegama have been closed as well due to the gas shortage.
