NPP convention saboteurs remanded; Allegations that B report was changed

COLOMBO (News 1st); Attanagalla Magistrate, Tharanga Rajapaksa on Monday (7) remanded the two suspects who attacked the National Convention of the National People's Power with eggs and stones until the 21st of this month.

They were remanded pending further investigations and the arrest of 14 other suspects.

Two persons were detained and handed over to the Nittambuwa Police on January 30th, following an incident where eggs were hurled at the NPP convention in Gampaha on the 30th of January 2022.

The two suspects were admitted to the Wathupitiwala District Base Hospital by the Nittambuwa Police for treatment and were given Police protection.

Attorney-at-Law Lal Kumarapeli stated in court on Monday (7) that the B report in the case had been changed on the instructions of the DIG in charge of the Western Province and the Gampaha SSP.

Further, he stated that all the information is noted in the Nittambuwa OIC's notebook.

The plaintiffs pointed out that according to the B report, 14 more suspects were to be arrested.

The police stated that the investigation into this case are yet to be concluded.
