Drug trafficker killed in shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st); A wanter drug trafficker was killed in a shooting in Nawula on Thursday (3) morning.

Police Spokesman, SSP Nihal Thalduwa stated that the shooting had taken place on Thursday (3) when a Police officer attempted to inspect the three-wheeler in which the suspect was traveling in.

The suspect had snatched the revolver of the police officer and in the tussle the ensured, a shot was fired.

The deceased has been identified as a 39-year-old resident of Dambulla.

The Police Spokesman further stated that 5 cases are pending against him in the Polonnaruwa and Dambulla courts regarding murders and drug trafficking.
