COLOMBO (News 1st); Despite the Ceylon Electricity Board's limitations of power cuts being implemented for only 7.5 hours, some people have alleged that there were power cuts lasting more than 10 hours in several parts of the country.

Residents of Anuradhapura District alleged that they did not have electricity from noon to 7.00 p.m. on Wednesday (02), and at 7.30 p.m again the electricity supply remained suspended until 10.00 p.m.

This had occurred in several places in the Anuradapura district such as Kakirawa, Galenbindunu wewa, and Kahatagasdigiliya.

The residents in Anuradapura stated that they need electricity not only to escape the darkness but to protect their lives and properties from Elephants as well.

Furthermore, Welding Companies and Lathe Machine Companies pointed out that their livelihoods have almost completely collapsed due to the power cuts during the day.
