COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka will be sending back 45 freight containers filled with waste, illegally imported to Sri Lanka on Monday (21).
The Sri Lankan Court of Appeal on the 14th of October 2020, ordered the Central Environment Authority to send all 242 freight containers with garbage which were shipped to Sri Lanka, back to the United Kingdom.
The Court of Appeal announced the verdict concluding the examination of the petition filed by the Centre for Environmental Justice.
Accordingly, these containers were shipped back in batches and the final 45 containers will leavel Sri Lankan shores on Monday (20).
