Asymptomatic Omicron spread, cause for concern

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Health stated that the spread of the Omicron virus is increasing through asymptomatic COVID-19 infections.

Deputy Director-General of Public Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath, said that the death toll from COVID-19 infections has already risen as a result.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hemantha Herath, said that there is a greater interest among the public to obtain the Booster Vaccine.

In addition, he stated, however, that between 1 and 2 million people in the country have not been vaccinated at all.

Meanwhile, 1217 COVID-19 patients have been identified on Wednesday (16).

Accordingly, the total number of COVID-19 patients identified in the country is 631,816.

Another 25 COVID-19 deaths were reported on Wednesday for Tuesday (15).

Furthermore, the total number of COVID-19 deaths recorded so far in the country is 15,899.

The Ministry of Health stated that 596,042 COVID-19 patients have been recovered so far.
