COLOMBO (News 1st); Seven fatal accidents were reported on Sunday (30) in several parts of the country.
- An accident took place in Ambilipitiya on Sunday (30) when a three-wheeler collided with a pedestrian on the road.
The pedestrian who was seriously injured in the accident died upon admission to the Hospital.
The deceased was identified as a homeless man.
The body was placed in the Ambilipitiya Hospital morgue.
Furthermore, the investigation has revealed that the accident was caused by the reckless driving of the three-wheeler driver.
Ambilpitiya Police is conducting further investigation.
- At the same time, a man was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle on Sunday (30) at the Kattankudi Police division.
The man who was seriously injured in the accident died after admission to the hospital in Madakalapuwa.
The deceased was identified as a 75-year-old, resident in Rajapathura, Ariyampathi 03 area.
The body was placed in the Madakalapuwa Hospital morgue.
Kattankudi Police is conducting further investigations to arrest the driver responsible for the hit and run.
- Furthermore, on Sunday (30) a woman died after falling off a bus in Chavakachcheri.
She was attempting to get off the bus that was moving towards Chavakachcheri on the Jaffna-Kandy road in the Navakkuliya area.
The woman who was seriously injured had died in the hospital after admission.
The deceased was identified as a 55-year-old resident of Navakkuliya, Kaithadi.
The body was placed in the Chavakachcheri Hospital morgue.
The bus driver was arrested by the Police and an investigation is underway.
- Furthermore, a lorry traveling towards Ratnapura collided with a pedestrian on the Colombo-Ratnapura road in the Kuruvita Police division on Sunday (30).
The woman who was seriously injured died on admission to the Ratnapura Hospital.
The deceased has been identified as a 61-year-old resident of Eratta, Kuruvita.
The body was placed in the Ratnapura Hospital morgue.
- In the meantime, a motorcyclist traveling towards Serukele in the Wilpath area on the Wilpath - Serukele road in the Pallewa Police division lost control and veered off the road.
The rider who was seriously injured in the accident died on admission at Chilaw Hospital.
The deceased was identified as a 51-year-old resident of Temple Road, in the Arachchikattuwa area.
- Furthermore, a pillion rider died after falling off a motorcycle in Puttlam.
The deceased was identified as a 74-year-old resident of Mahakon Wewa, Thabbowa.

The deceased was identified as a 40-year-old resident of Hatamuna, Higurakgoda.
