PUCSL to decide on permitting future power cuts

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) states that a decision will be taken on Thursday (27) to determine whether or not to allow a two day power cut in the next few days.

The PUCSL previously stated that there is no need to make any power cuts until 27th after a review of the current power crisis on 25th January.

Janaka Ratnayake, the Chairman of PUCSL stated that it is up to the Commission to decide whether or not the power plants have the required fuel to sustain the public for the next two to three days, and whether the existing demand for electricity can  be fulfilled. 

He mentioned that the decision on future power cuts will be taken on Thursday (27) evening.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation stated that action will be taken to provide the required fuel to the CEB for the next 10 days.

Its Chairman, Sumith Wijesinghe said that steps have been taken to provide the required fuel to the Sapugaskanda power plant as well.
