COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister of Health, Keheliya Rambukwella has instructed the ministry officials to submit a full report on the pharmaceutical drugs required for the country for the next six months. He issued these instructions during a discussion held regarding the supply of medicines required to meet the demand in the country. During the meeting, the Minister had informed officials that this report should be prepared every three months for two quarters. Minister Rambukwella had emphasized that the Government will ensure the continuous supply of the required medicines for the people without any shortage, regardless of the obstacles posed by the global pandemic. The Minister also instructed the officials to pay attention to pharmaceutical drugs that can be manufactured locally, in the process of importation. However, it was also revealed at the meeting that despite the possibility of manufacturing certain pharmaceutical drugs locally, certain medicines must be imported since people are accustomed to using medicines issued by various brands.
