COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's Former President Maithripala Sirisena says a rejuvenated Sri Lanka Freedom Party is set to emerge with a broad national programme to serve the people. Sirisena who is also the Chairman of the SLFP said his party opposes the postponement of elections and demanded  elections to be held without further delays. Sirisena noted a strong and powerful party with the heading of SLFP will be built in the near future with the participation of many sects. He noted that they shall form a government in the future with anyone who joins hands with their broad national programme. The former head of state expressed these views on Monday (10) at the newly inaugurated media center of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. In a surprising turn of events, a power outage was experienced during the ceremony, and proceedings had to be carried out in the dark. Meanwhile, Senior Deputy Chairman of SLFP Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said, that clearly without any doubt he can assure the formation of a United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) government in the future as they do not have any intention of joining with either the SJB or the SLPP. Amaraweera further noted that the people of this country are irritated with the so-called 'Viyath Maga' who call themselves intellectuals and professionals. '' We have a new group of intelligent minds'', the SLFP stalwart concluded. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khp76xXsnnE
