Possibility of an OMICRON wave: Prof. Channa Jayasumana

COLOMBO (News 1st); There is a possibility of an OMICRON virus wave emerging in the country, says State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana. 

Speaking at an event held in Anuradhapura on Friday (07), the State Minister said that an OMICRON wave is visible in many European countries today.

Moreover, the State Minister mentioned that researchers have found that the body's immunity decreases after six months from the first two doses, and there is a risk of the country being trapped in an OMICRON wave if the booster vaccine is not obtained by a majority of the population.
