COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government says the circular extending the retirement age of public sector workers up to 65 years will be issued on Thursday (06).
Accordingly, the Secretary to the Ministry, J. J. Ratnasiri stated that the retirement age of public sector workers will be extended to 65 years, however members of the armed forces and those bound by other legal provisions will be exempted.
This circular will be issued in accordance with the 2022 budget proposal.
However, the Sri Lanka Administrative Services Association had previously expressed its opposition for the extension on the retirement age of public sector workers to 65.
The association stated that the retirement age should be decreased to 62 in a letter directed to the Secretary to the Ministry.
