Dengue Eradication Programmes in 15 High-Risk zones

COLOMBO (News 1st): A special dengue eradication programme will be carried out on Tuesday (Jan. 4), in 15 districts identified as Dengue High-Risk Zones, the National Dengue Control Unit said. The districts identified as Dengue High-Risk Zones are Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, Galle, Hambantota, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Mannar, Trincomalee, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Badulla, Ratnapura, and Kegalle. Director of the National Dengue Control Unit, Dr. Sudath Samarasinghe said the special dengue eradication programme will be carried out until the 10th of January, at 81 MOH divisions of the 15 districts. Dr. Samarasinghe said dengue breeding grounds should be eliminated to contain the spread of Dengue and called on everyone to work collectively in this regard. According to the Epidemiology Unit, a total of 19,087 Dengue patients were reported in the country during the course of 2021.
