COLOMBO (News 1st); The University of Sri Jayawardenapura said it will commence testing on Tuesday (28) to determine the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant in Sri Lanka.
Dr. Chandima Jeewandara, the head of the Department of Immunology and Molecular Biology at Sri Jayewardenepura University told News 1st that 96 samples were obtained from various parts of the country for these tests.
Another objective of these tests is to determine whether the coronavirus has mutated.
