Sri Lanka close to becoming a bankrupt nation: Nalin Hewage

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka is close to becoming a bankrupt country, says member of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, Nalin Hewage.

Speaking at the Ambalangoda phase of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna's 'Gamen Patangamu' program, the JVP memebr pointed out that if all Parliamentarians do not meet and come to a decision, Sri Lanka may become a bankrupt state in the world.

Citing the recent trend of Sri Lanka being downgraded by various credit institutions, Hewage said that although the Government attempts to hide this crisis from the world, they are unable to do so.

Further speaking of the prices of goods, which are sky-rocketing, the JVP member questioned as to why the rulers of the country are proroguing the Parliament while these problems exist.

The Parliamentarians must meet and try to find a solution for this problem, he said.
