Alibaba, Google, Huawei and Global AI Experts At Sri Lanka AI Week 2026

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's ambition to become a leading artificial intelligence hub in Asia moved a step closer to reality with the launch of Sri Lanka AI Week 2026, a national technology initiative jointly organized by the Ministry of Digital Economy and SLT-MOBITEL.

The event, which runs from today (25) until September 30, has been designed as a platform to accelerate AI awareness, innovation, digital skills development and industry collaboration, while connecting Sri Lanka's technology ecosystem with global AI leaders and emerging technology trends.

Bringing an international dimension to the programme, Sri Lanka AI Week features participation from experts representing some of the world's most influential technology companies, including Alibaba, ZTE, Deloitte, Google, and Huawei. Attendees will gain direct access to global expertise and insights into how artificial intelligence is reshaping industries, economies and societies.

Speaking at the launch, SLT Group Chairman Dr. Mothilal de Silva said Sri Lanka AI Week has attracted a significant international presence, with experts from approximately 15 countries joining the initiative.

A key feature of the programme will be the National AI Expo, scheduled for September 29 and 30, where participants will be able to explore AI-powered technologies, digital transformation solutions and emerging innovations that are driving the next phase of global technological advancement.

The week will also feature the National AI Conference, bringing together technology leaders, researchers, policymakers, startups and industry stakeholders to discuss the future of artificial intelligence, innovation, governance and digital growth. Organizers noted that the conference will be offered free of charge, creating wider access to global expertise and knowledge-sharing opportunities.

The programme will conclude with the National AI Awards Night on September 30, recognizing outstanding achievements and contributions within Sri Lanka's rapidly evolving technology sector.
