Low pressure area over Bay of Bengal moving towards SL

COLOMBO (News 1st); Issuing an Amber alert Advisory for the Low-Pressure area to the South-east of Sri Lanka, the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorology Department says that the low-pressure area lay over the South-East Bay of Bengal and It is likely to move east-northeastwards.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers with wind speed of (40-50) kmph gusting up to (60-70) kmph can be expected over the sea areas as well.

Additionally, the National Hazards Early Warning Centre also advised the fishing and naval communities not to venture to the sea until further notice.
