COLOMBO (News 1st); Even the unions belonging to SLPP are against the sale of national assets, says the Secretary of the Frontline Socialist Party, Pubudu Jagoda.

Speaking at an event held in Galle on Saturday (11), Jagoda says that forming alliances between the unions of Electricity, Ports and Energy against the sale of national assets is a positive development.

Furthermore, Jagoda also pointed out that as of currently, the Government is planning to sell its National assets, including the sale of the  Kerawalapitiya powerplant, issuance of the LNG tender to a US company, giving oil tanks to India, the Kankesanturai port, the Palali airport to India, the west container terminal of the Colombo port to India, and closing down of the Sapugaskanda oil refinery in favour a Chinese company, will all be strictly opposed.

Adding that even the unions of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna are supporting this alliance, Jagoda stated that it was the SLPP Union leader who explained the situation to other unions as well.

Speaking further, Jagoda emphasized that although there are unions which supports different parties, it is important to preserve national assets for the future generations.
