COLOMBO (News 1st): A Vesak Bhakthi Gee programme organized by the Presidential Secretariat, together with the Gangaramaya Buddha Rashmi Vesak Zone, got underway last evening at the premises of the Presidential Secretariat.
The event featured performances by choirs from the Tri-Forces, the Police, and several schools in Colombo.
Among those in attendance were Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, and Inspector General of Police Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasooriya.
Meanwhile, the Vesak Zone organized by the Peliyagoda Urban Council attracted large crowds.
The Bauddhaloka Vesak Zone is also being held along Bauddhaloka Mawatha in Colombo.
The festival features a variety of Vesak attractions, including illuminated pandals, lantern displays, and other creative exhibits.
This year’s State Vesak Festival is being held at the historic Midellawala Rajamaha Viharaya in Thihagoda, Matara.
The celebration titled “Dakshina Prabha,” includes Vesak pandals, lantern exhibitions, dansals, and Bakthi Gee performances.
Meanwhile, the Rahal Pradeepalokanaya Bhakthi Gee programme organized by Rahula College in Matara, was held yesterday with the participation of several invited schools.
