Six Killed, Seven Injured After Cab Ploughs Into Dansala in Meegoda

COLOMBO (News 1st): Six people were killed and seven others injured after a cab crashed into a dansala in the Meegoda area.

Police said the deceased include a 15-year-old girl, two women, and three men residents of the Piliyandala and Avissawella areas.

Among those deceased were a couple and the husband's mother.

Police stated that the seven injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at the Homagama Base Hospital.

The driver of the cab fled the scene following the accident.

However, persuing the suspect the police immediately arrested the suspect in Godagama after confronting him at gunpoint.

According to police, the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The suspect is a 40-year-old resident of the Piliyandala area.
