Bring back dignity to the Parliament: Karu

COLOMBO (News 1st); All MPs must act respectfully and not hinder the dignity of the Parliament when interacting with other MPs and those in Parliamentary working committees, says former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya. The former Speaker, commenting on the recent tense situation which arose at the Parliament during a press conference convened by the National Movement for Just society said that while all MPs must act respectfully, they must also speak in a suitable language when delivering political speeches, especially at Parliamentary debates. Emphasizing that it must be noted that the Parliament is a dignified and exemplary place in this country, the former Speaker said that honorable MPs must be humble and respect fellow MPs' varying opinions and observe that right. "The Parliament's problems should not solved outside its doors as it holds respectful power," he added.
