COLOMBO (News 1st); The second contempt of court case filed against Former Member of Parliament Ranjan Ramanayake will be called upon on the 24th of January 2022.

The Attorney General had filed the case against Ramanayake based on an order of the Supreme Court that determined that the Ex-Parliamentarian had committed contempt of court in his comments on a program with an electronic media.

The case was called up in the presence of Justices S. Thurairaja, H. M. D. Nawaz, and Arjuna Obeysekera on Friday (3).

President's Counsel Anura Meddegoda requested the court to issue an order permitting Ranjan Ramanayake, who is following a law program at the Open University, to be allowed online access to course material.

The court instructed for that request to be made to the Prison Officers and to inform the court via a motion if permission was granted.
