COLOMBO (News 1st); State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara commenting on the problems faced by farmers of Sri Lanka, stated that the protests are raising genuine concerns of farmers.
The General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, speaking to media stated that Sri Lanka had been a self-sufficient country, and ha been a country that never experienced a famine.
Speaking further, Jayasekara said that although the country became self sufficient in rice in 2014, for the first time, Sri Lanka had had to import rice from overseas this time, and it will impact the existing dollar crisis as well.
