Law of the land is in deterioration: Dr. Harini Amarasuriya

COLOMBO (News 1st); National People's Power (NPP) MP Harini Amarasuriya says that the law of the land is in a state of deterioration.

Speaking at a media briefing convened by the National People's Force, Amarasuriya said that the cases filed against Government allies are being dropped at an alarming rate.

She also emphasized that if more cases of Government allies continues to drop, the country's faith in law and the judiciary continues to drop, as well.

When the cases are being filed, the are filed alongside the evidence, which is why it is a mystery as to how the legitimacy of the evidence change when the Government itself changes, she stated.

She added that while international image of the country is being badly damaged, this shows a breakdown in the country's law enforcement structure.
