Fluctuating prices is the nature of market: Maithripala

COLOMBO (News 1st); Former President Maithripala Sirisena says that the prices of rice and sugar fluctuating is the nature of the market. He said this in response to a question directed at him during the event held in Homagama today (20) to declare a newly constructed gold fence at the Sri Kettarama Viharaya in Godagama. Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa and the Former President Sirisena attended the event, at which the Maha Sanga including the chief incumbent of the Sri Kettarama Viharaya Venerable Malabe Seelarathne Thero conducted the religious ceremony. The Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa remarking on the event said that the remaining work of the temple will be constructed through the 'Sasunata Aruna' program. He also stated that he is happy to have taken part in the occasion and provided the strength to the work carried out to construct the Stupa at the temple under Ven. Malabe Seelarathne Thero. Meanwhile, the former President Maithripala Sirisena who also attended the event responded to questions raised by journalists and said that the President had not denied the request of Government constituent parties, including the SLFP, to meet with the President on the matter of selling national assets and the LNG deal with the US Company, New Fortress. Sirisena said that the respective officials have been instructed by the President to participate in the discussion with the 11 other parties, and that the discussion will be held as a technical discussion.
