COLOMBO (News 1st); The State Ministry of Primary Health Care, Epidemics, and COVID Disease Control says the number of people over the age of 30-years who have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine is now close to 100%.
Subject Minister Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle said the number of COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in hospitals has also decreased.
She emphasized the importance of following health guidelines to further control the situation and urged the people to support the containment efforts.
Minister Fernandopulle also noted that it is more appropriate for the youth between the ages of 20 and 29-years to get any vaccine that is available, as soon as possible without hesitation.
She urged the youth not to fall for misinformation that spreads through social media regarding the efficacy of vaccines, adding that all the COVID-19 vaccines approved for use in Sri Lanka are scientifically proven to provide positive results for the youth.
