Basils first Budget will be historic - GL

COLOMBO (News 1st); Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa's inaugural budget will be a historic one which aims for welfare and development, said Foreign Minister (Professor) G. L. Peiris on Monday (11). "Accordingly, Rs. 2 Million will be allocated for every Grama Niladhari Division in the country," he added noting that an electorate will receive Rs. 3 million in funds. He went on to note that a Deputy Chairman of a Regional Development Coordinating Committee will be awarded Rs. 20 Million under this program, while the Chairman of the said Committee will receive Rs. 100 Million for projects. 'The fund distribution will attribute to an economic revival,' said the Minister.
