COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police arrested two people from Thalangama for driving on a busy road with a police officer clinging on to the hood of their car on Monday (20), during a narcotics operation.
Police Spokesperson SSP Attorney-at-Law Nihal Thalduwa said the main suspect has been identified and he is a resident of Nugeogda connected to multiple other crimes.
Investigations are underway to arrest him, said the Police Spokesperson.
On Monday (20), personnel from the Nugegoda Vice Division monitored a car and a three-wheeler in Welikada engaged in a suspicious transaction.
Police believe this to be a drug deal and they attempted to arrested the suspects, they have drive off with one office clinging to the hood of the car.
A police sergeant clung to the car and tried to stop the vehicle.
CCTV cameras captured how the driver applied the brakes deliberately to make the sergeant fall from the hood.
The injured sergeant was hospitalized while four teams of police officers and two teams of intelligence officers were deployed to make arrests.
