Possibility of a sea level rise: Met Department

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Meteorology warns that there is a possibility of a sea level rise of 2.0-2.5 meters in the coastal areas from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota. The department said in a statement that there was a possibility of tidal surges and possible rough seas due to the rising tides. Accordingly, the Meteorological Department urges the fishing and naval community as well as the people living along the coast to be vigilant in this regard.
