COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Catholic Church said that Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith would agree to sit down for talks with Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, if certain conditions are met.
Reverend Father Cyril Gamini Fernando, speaking on behalf of the Archbishop said the Government must take action to implement the recommendations of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (CoI) that inquired into the 2019 April 21st Attacks, before the meeting.
He said although the Archbishop is open for talks it would only take place if the conditions are fulfilled prior.
His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith will meet ONLY if confidence is built up that justice will be served for the Easter Sunday Attack victims, said Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando, Archdiocese Media Spokesman.
