COLOMBO (News 1st): One of the main goals of the country is to increase exports, State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara says. Speaking to the media, State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara emphasized that a depletion in the country's foreign reserves has been observed, and in this situation, the Government wants to increase exports. He said that the Minister of Finance summoned most of the Cabinet Ministers and discussed the methodology to increase exports of the country. State Minister Jayasekara added that stores such as Laksala are not making enough revenue, and the lack of tourists has become a very bad issue for the country's economy. He added that in 2020, total number of tourists who visited the country was 15,000, however it further reduced in 2021. He added that if the majority of the population is vaccinated by the end of December, it is possible to reinvigorate the country's tourism sector from December onwards.
