COLOMBO (News 1st): The latest report by the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that there is a 40% increase in the number of COVID-19 infections in Sri Lanka.

According to the WHO weekly report, there has been a decrease in the number of cases of COVID-19 in countries in Southeast Asia except for the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Timor-Leste.

In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) report released on 20 August states that there has been an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases reported from the Central Province of Sri Lanka compared to last week.

There is also an increase in the North-Western and Southern Provinces.

In addition, the highest number of new COVID-19 patients in the country is reported from the Western Province, an increase of 57%
