COLOMBO (News 1st): The mobile program to vaccinate those who are immobilized was launched today (12), Army Commander General Shavendra Silva says.
He further stated the Army launched a vaccination campaign at the Army Hospital, Kalutara Hospital, and the Gampaha Hospital to inoculate those over 60 years of age, who have not obtained vaccines but are suffering from various other diseases.
It has been reported that there is a substantial amount of persons who have not obtained the vaccine due to hesitancy and other factors, the Army Commander said.
Some persons who are above the age of 60 have requested other vaccines for their existing health concerns other than COVID-19, and the Army is considering those requests are taking the necessary steps to provide those vaccines as well, he added.
Moreover, Army personnel are also taking steps to go near immobilized persons and vaccinate them, and the relevant mobile program was launched in Colombo North at 10:00 a.m. today (12), the Army Commander mentioned. He said that the program will continue at the Colombo South area tomorrow (13).
