POLICE SOLVE DOUBLE HOMICIDE DATING BACK TO 2015

COLOMBO (News 1st); Detective attached to the Vavuniya Range Crimes Investigations Unit managed to solve a 2015 double homicide.

Over the years it was believed that Parameshwaran Sajanthika and her 06-month-old baby, who were travelling from Kondavil in Jaffna to Vavuniya 06 years ago, had disappeared.,

However, based on the suspicions raised by the relatives Sri Lanka Police continued investigations and managed to arrest a man believed to be Parameshwaran Sajanthika's lover.

Following continuous interrogation, the suspect confessed that he took the woman and her baby to a house located in Murunagar, Vavuniya, where he strangled her to death.

Thereafter, he had set her body on fire and added sugar to the remains.

The suspect had confessed that he argued and tussled with his deceased lover and the baby died in the process.

He had thereafter, placed the dead baby's body at the site where he burned his lover.

The suspect was arrested after police investigations were carried out the victim's mobile phone which surprisingly was being used in Colombo.

Based on the suspect's confession, the remains were exhumed from behind a house in Murunagar on Sunday (08).

Sri Lanka Police said that over the past 06 years the suspect had lived in Colombo, Nuwara Eliya, and overseas.

He was remanded to the 16th of August by court.
