COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka will receive another four million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine within the first week of August, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing mentions in a press release.
Accordingly, Embassy is currently in operation to make arrangements to airfreight the consignment of vaccines between 04 and 08 August.
Sri Lanka has so far received 10.7 million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine as donations and gifts from China as well as grants from the COVAX program.
According to statistics, Sri Lanka has fully vaccinated 16% of the targeted group of persons over 30 years of age and 30.68% of the targeted group has already received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Ambassador Palitha Kohona expressed his confidence in the vaccine program of the country and mentioned that he expects Chinese tourists to visit the country subject to health restrictions in the future.
