Death of 16-year old girl: Suspects to be produced before Court

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police is conducting further investigations into the death of the 16-year old girl, identified as a domestic aide at the residence of the former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, Police Spokesperson SDIG Ajith Rohana stated on Monday (26).

The Police Spokesperson added that three persons who were arrested in connection with the incident are being kept at executive custody with the permission of the Court, and will be produced before the Magistrate's Court today in accordance with the detention orders.

Moreover, SDIG Ajith Rohana said that Police has recorded 36 statements from witnesses, and that special attention has been drawn to the post mortem report and money transactions which took place between the parties involved during the investigations.

Additionally, the Police Spokesperson said that it has been revealed that another female was previously raped at the same residence, and Police is conducting further investigations on the matter after arresting the brother-in-law of the former Minister Bathiudeen as a suspect.
