'Kudu Noni' arrested for sending drugs in dolls

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police have uncovered a new method being used by traffickers to peddle drugs across the country.

Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said the Police Narcotic Bureau was informed three days ago over a suspicious parcel that was to be sent to Anuradhapura from a courier service in Colombo.

The parcel was obtained by the PNB and it commenced an investigation on the person in Anuradhapura to whom the parcel was addressed to.

Upon inspecting the parcel, the Police Narcotic Bureau discovered a doll inside which was listed as a gift.

'Drugs were found packed inside the doll,' said the Police Spokesperson.

Further, an investigation was carried out on the sender as well.

Police Spokesperson Senior DIG Ajith Rohana speaking to News 1st said the sender was identified as an infamous female drug trafficker from Slave Island, Colombo 02 known as 'Kudu Noni'.

The suspect is a 47-year-old female and upon inspecting her residence in Kaduwela another 56 grams of heroin was discovered.

The person in Anuradhapura, who was to accept the parcel, was also arrested by the Police Narcotic Bureau.
