COLOMBO (News1st): Sixteen people who were arrested while protesting against the Sri John Kotalawala Defence University Bill recently are undergoing quarantine at a facility in Mullaitivu that is run by the Air Force. The protestors staged a demonstration at the quarantine facility today. "Why are we being held here? This is completely wrong. We demand our immediate release," Joseph Stalin, the general secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union said on Sunday. Duminda Nagamuwa who was released on bail after being arrested on Wednesday has been placed in quarantine at a facility run by the Army in Pallekelle. "There is no point of keeping us here. They are trying to do it using health reasons," Duminda Nagamuwa, the Propaganda Secretary of the Frontline Socialist Party noted. "This is a work plan carried out by the government to suppress public opposition," he alleged.
