Navy officer in Mt. Lavinia Child Sex Scandal interdicted

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Navy Lieutenant Commander who is also a cardiologist, arrested over the Mount Lavinia Child Sex Scandal has been interdicted.

Navy Spokesperson Captain Indika De Silva speaking to News 1st said disciplinary action will be instituted against the Lieutenant Commander following judicial proceedings.

On Tuesday (06), Additional Magistrate Lochana Abeywickrama ordered for the lieutenant commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, who was arrested over the exploitation of a 15-year-old girl to be remanded until the 09th of July.

The suspect will be produced in an identification parade, as per an order by the Colombo Additional Magistrate.

34 suspects have been arrested over the Mount Lavinia Child Sex Trafficking Ring said Sri Lanka Police.

Among the others arrested are the parents of the victim, a three-wheeler driver, a car driver, the individual who designed the advertisement, a captain of a ship, Deputy Chairman of the Mihinthale Pradeshiya Sabha, a Gem Businessman from Balangoda, a Millionaire Businessman from Kalutara, and several crew members as well as administrators and operators of several websites.

Maldives’ former state minister for finance and treasury is also among the arrested.

A 15-year-old girl was sexually exploited by an individual in Mount Lavinia via social media outlets and the main suspect in connection with the incident was arrested on the 07th of June, by a special team led by Headquarter-Inspector of Mount Lavinia.

The 15-year-old female victim had been exploited for three months and she had been handed over to various people to be exploited.
