Welikada prisoners demand Death Sentence be commuted to Life In Prison

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prison inmates at the Welikada Prison are protesting atop a prison building.

It is reported that these prisoners are demanding that the death sentences be commuted to life in prison, with effect from the date of the sentencing.

Prison inmates at the Mahara and Welikada prisons also commenced a hunger strike over the same demand.
