COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Police said two members of the Kolonnawa Urban Council were arrested for stealing a machine owned by the Meethotamulla Paddy Marketing Board.
Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said Wellampitiya Police received a complaint on the 07th of June where a machine installed at a storage facility that belongs to the Paddy Marketing Board in Meethotamulla of the Wellampitiya Police area, was stolen.
Upon conducting investigations, the one who purchased the machine and the one who transported it to the buyer were arrested.
According to DIG Ajith Rohana, following further investigations, another two suspects were arrested in connection with the theft and they were identified as Members of the Kolonnawa Urban Council.
The suspects will be produced at the Colombo Magistrate's Court today and they will be charged under the provisions of the Penal Code and the Public Property Act.
Wellampitiya Police are conducting further investigations.
