Indian Police arrest 61 illegal immigrants from Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st): Indian Police Service on Friday (Jun. 11) arrested 61 illegal immigrants from Sri Lanka from the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka Police said. The arrests were made during a joint operation conducted by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu Police. According to Sri Lanka Police, 38 Sri Lankans who were staying in the Mangalore city in Karnataka state and 23 Sri Lankans in the Madurai area in Tamil Nadu were arrested during the joint operation. Moreover, 11 others who provided accommodation, and aided & abetted the illegal immigrants from Sri Lanka were also arrested, Police noted.
