CID to inspect alleged X-PRESS PEARL oil slick

COLOMBO (News 1st): A team of officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) are scheduled to inspect and investigate whether there is an oil leak in the seas surrounding the stricken MV X-PRESS PEARL. The CID team will travel to the sea area where the vessel is currently located and collect water samples following inspections in the area, Sri Lanka Police said. Thereafter, steps will be taken to send the water samples to the Government Analyst for further investigations, Police noted.
