18 COVID fatalities on Wednesday (12); total death toll climbs to 868

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Director-General of Health Services said 18 COVID-19 deaths were confirmed in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (12) adding these deaths were reported from the 09th to 12th May.

Accordingly, the total number of fatalities in Sri Lanka is 868, as of Wednesday (18)

Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak said 89.5% of the deaths reported so far in the country, since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic is of those aged above 51-years.

The rate of deaths reported among those below the age of 50-years stands at around 11%.

01.The deceased is an 82-year-old female resident in Wanduramba. She died on 10.05.2021 in her residence. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 02. The deceased is a 65-year-old male resident in Imaduwa. He was transferred from Imaduwa Hospital to the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya where he died on 10.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid 19 pneumonia. 03.The deceased is a 59-year-old male resident in Walasmulla. He died on 10.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Karapitiya. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 04.The deceased is a 76-year-old female resident in Mathugama. She died on 09.05.2021 on admission to General Hospital Kalutara. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid infection, Sepsis, Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart failure and Chronic Kidney Disease. 05.The deceased is a 55-year-old female resident in Melsiripura. She died on 11.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Kurunegala. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia, Diabetes, Multi-organ dysfunction and Acute kidney injury. 06.The deceased is a 92-year-old male resident in Kurunegala. He died on 10.05.2021 in his residence. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 07.The deceased is a 50-year-old male resident in Alawwa. He died on 10.05.2021 on admission to Teaching Hospital Kurunegala and the cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 08.The deceased is a 73-year-old male resident in Moronthuduwa. He was transferred from District General Hospital Kalutara to the Base Hospital Pimbura where he died on 11.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 09.The deceased is a 74-year-old male resident in Omalpe. He died on 09.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in District General Hospital Embilipitiya. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 10.The deceased is a 38-year-old male resident in Embilipitiya. He died on 10.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in District General Hospital Embilipitiya. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 11. The deceased is a 67-year-old male resident in Haldanduwana. He died on 10.05.2021 while undergoing treatments in Chest Hospital Welisara. She was transferred from Arachchikanda Covid Treatment Centre, Hikkaduwa to the Base Hospital Homagama where he died on 12.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia. 18.The deceased is a 67-year-old female resident in Beruwala.
