Police probe driver's assault along Gampaha-Yakkala road

COLOMBO (News1st): The police have launched a probe into an incident in which a group had been assaulting a driver along the Gampaha-Yakkala road,  police spokesperson Ajith Rohana said. The footage of the incident had been circulating widely on social media, with reports suggesting that the altercation has occurred because the driver had not allowed another vehicle to overtake him. "I only saw a private bus. The moment I let it overtake me, they blocked my path and stopped. Then, they forcefully opened the door and starting assaulting me," the driver noted. He recalled that one member among the group had been clad in police attire.
