COLOMBO (News 1st); A person who is tested COVID positive must immediately be isolated from the family at his or her residence, said Dr. Eranga Narangoda from the National Institute of Infectious Diseases.

"It is important for COVID positive individuals to be isolated in a separate room with good ventilation and sunlight," he said adding it is important for such patients to use a separate washroom as well.

Dr. Eranga also went on to note that the COVID-19 patient must rest as much as possible and should sleep upright for easy breathing to prevent acute COVID pneumonia.

He also requested COVID-19 patients who are taking medication for other illnesses to continue their medication, while those with diabetes must ensure to control their sugar levels.
